General Features - Ceramic Backings

Ceramic washers are made of a mixture of natural inorganic materials (soapstone, clay, kaolin). The aluminium adhesive tape used to fix them does not contain halogen elements and there are no chemical reactions during application.

Single-sided ceramic washers are suitable for various arc welding processes:

  • coated electrode for manual arc welding (process 111 - MMA)
  • consumable arc welding, gas shielded arc welding for both solid and flux cored wire (processes 131, 135, 136, 138 - MIG/MAG).

The practical use of ceramic washers is easy to learn and any welder can produce a high quality weld.

For a well-made welding bead:

  • Without copper contamination
  • Without risk of burn through in the first pass position (used as a support)
  • Without re-welding
  • Without risk of lack of fusion
  • No turning of the work piece
  • Bigger root thickness permits higher welding current for the hot pass
  • An increase in first pass deposit rate
  • Wide root gap

  • Total penetration of joints difficult to access in reverse position
